The potential for using technology in healthcare systems represents an incredible opportunity and a daunting challenge. The implementation and widespread use of technology in many health and care settings lags significantly behind other sectors. The safe effective and efficient high quality healthcare systems of the future will be technologically enabled. This shift will require leaders and senior managers with an informed present-day mindset who understand the breadth of operational and preventative benefits technology offers and are aware of the risks fragmented technology implementation poses to patients and service users.
