Identify and address your organisations blind spot before they manifest as tragic events...
Wilful blindness is a naturally occurring human behaviour and organisational phenomenon. It manifests itself in many ways and many different situations and settings. You may know it as blind spot bias, conscious avoidance, moral myopia, motivated blindness, summit fever, tunnel vision, or wilful ignorance.
Many of the tragedies and scandals affecting organisations in recent years have their roots in wilful blindness. No organisation is immune. Public, private, and third-sector companies ranging from the Met Police, the NHS, VW, Oxfam, and the Co-Op, could have negated the issues they faced had they developed wilfully aware cultures. I can help leaders and organisations:
-
Understand the many forms of wilful blindness, what it is, why it matters, and what it costs,
-
Implement multi-channel listening to address organisational wilful blindness and minimise preventable harm,
-
Bust the myth of the curved ball and move from crisis management to prediction and avoidance.
"Hearing Tom share his lived experience has made me think about the presence and impact of wilful blindness on myself, in my organisation, and on patients." John H - NHS Clinical Leader
